GGU-CANTILEVER: "Verifications/Partial factors" menu item¶
If you are analysing with the partial safety factor concept, you will see a dialog box for defining the partial factors.

The "EQU analysis" group box (limit state of loss of static equilibrium) is only available in EC 7.
In the "Default values" group box you can use the "To DIN 1054:2010" button to transfer the partial safety factors for the various load cases of DIN 1054:2010 or EC 7. The selected design situation is automatically entered at the top of the dialog box and can, if desired, be displayed in the General legend. However, you can also use your own designations here.
In the partial safety concept according to EC 7, the designations of the load cases have been changed:
- Load Case 1 is now DS-P: Persistent Design Situation
- Load Case 2 is now DS-T: Transient Design Situation
- Load Case 3 is now DS-A: Accidental Design Situation
In addition, there is a seismic design situation: DS-E. According to DIN 1054:2021-04, Tables A 2.1 to A 2.3, the same partial factors apply to DS-E as to DS-A. The "BS-A/BS-E" button transfers these values:
- permanent actions γG = 1.10, earth pressure at rest γG,E0 = 1.00, variable actions γQ = 1.10
- passive earth pressure (sliding) = 1.20, bearing capacity = 1.20, sliding = 1.10
- EQU analysis: γG,dst = 1.00, γG,stb = 0.95, γQ,dst = 1.00
The "BS-E(alt)" button, in contrast, sets all partial factors = 1.0. This corresponds to the older rule under which no partial factors were applied in design situation DS-E according to DIN EN 1990 under DIN 1054:2010.
Selecting the design situation does not activate seismic loads. Enter these as kh and kv in the Editor 1/Seismic effects menu item. There you will also find the partial factor "gam, phi'" (default value 1.25, recommended according to DIN EN 1998-5). It reduces the friction angle (tan φ') for the earth pressure coefficients, but only if the earth pressure coefficients are to be modified according to EC 8 (check box) and kh or kv is not 0. This partial factor applies independently of the selected design situation.
It is also possible to select the partial safety factors compliant with Austrian standards using the "To ÖNORM EN 1997-1" button.
In GGU-CANTILEVER you can also select the partial safety factors according to Swiss standards using the “to SIA 267” button.
